Healthy Families Arizona (HFAZ) is a voluntary program that reaches out to families with multiple stressors that place them at-risk for poor child health and developmental as well as child abuse and neglect. Families at-risk for child abuse and neglect are assessed shortly after the birth of a child by a two-stage screening and assessment process. The program seeks to promote safe and nurturing environments for children and offers families an array services, including emotional support, informal teaching, modeling, information and referral, transportation and counseling. The goals of the program are to: 1) prevent child abuse and neglect, 2) enhance parent-child interaction, and 3) promote child health and development. LeCroy & Milligan Associates, Inc. has conducted outcome evaluation and quality assurance of training for program development and improvement since 1992.
