Michele Schmidt, MPA
Michele Schmidt, MPA, is a Senior Evaluation Associate with LeCroy & Milligan Associates. Ms. Schmidt has over 20 years of experience in providing evaluation and research services for statewide, regional, and local non-profit and government programs.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Vermont. While at the University of Vermont, she worked as Evaluation Coordinator and Research Specialist, providing evaluation and research services for multi-state, statewide, regional, and local non-profit and government programs. In 2012, Ms. Schmidt became a Senior Evaluation Associate at LMA.
Her areas of expertise include child welfare, foster and kinship care services; parent education and home visitation; youth homelessness; adult drug court; public health prevention; and collaboration development and assessment. She has served as lead evaluator on several multi-year projects funded by the Administration for Children and Families’ Children’s Bureau, the Family and Youth Services Bureau, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Ms. Schmidt has extensive experience in utilizing qualitative and quantitative evaluation methodologies, as well as developing and implementing process and outcome evaluations, quasi-experimental and experimental designs, and quality assurance and fidelity monitoring systems. Michele has provided evaluation services for Parents as Teachers, Healthy Families Arizona, Healthy Start, and Arizona Kinship Support Services programs, and others.
Ms. Schmidt also works with clients to conduct needs assessments, develop strategic plans, conduct staff training, and facilitate collaboration efforts using the Collective Impact approach. She has served as project lead for the needs assessment and strategic planning efforts for homeless youth prevention in Pima County, and child maltreatment prevention needs assessment for Arizona’s Department of Child Safety. Her recent work with coalitions includes evaluating and supporting the Arizona Arizona Cancer Coalition and the Arizona State Nutrition Action Committee.
Outside of work, Ms. Schmidt is a licensed fitness instructor and has been practicing and teaches yoga and Zumba. She also enjoys spending time outdoors in the beautiful Sonoran Desert, hiking, biking, and taking scenic nature photography.
